East Village is a thriving business development at the heart of London’s newest metropolitan area, Stratford City. SoftSim Consult was involved in multiple phases of the development to support the design teams in improving the site’s wind microclimate comfort and safety conditions.
Wind modelling was completed through steady-state atmospheric boundary layer simulations. Thus, pedestrian comfort and safety levels were approximated based on the standard Lawson criteria. New mitigation measures were proposed and tested, together with improving the soft landscape at the development’s target plots. Thus, council authorities approved development schemes for construction.
